Why I will not vote for Barak Obama.
Secret provided this link to a very well made, very inspirational, very moving and energizing Barak campaign video. The only problem with it is that it is also very shallow…
I kept waiting for the blank to be filled in, “yes, we can ______________”
And then it came… “Yes, we can, the opportunity and prosperity.”
um ok? Don’t we have that? Don’t we have limitless opportunities and prosperity that is the envy of billions of others?
But wait, then the song breaks into a chant of “we want change, we want change!” So now we don’t want opportunity and prosperity?
It sounds like we want to change away from opportunity and prosperity.
Inspiration can only get you so far. Give me substance. Read the rest of this entry »
Sensational Basin Picks
I was feeling a bit nostalgic yesterday so I went back and reviewed a classic post from last year. Sooper Bole Picks
Indeed that was one of my most diverse group of commenter’s and it opened the door to a strange progression of posts. What began as a discussion about who would win the super bowl led to a discussion about sabbath observance, then a discussion about alcohol and then somehow a long debate over parenting.
Weird.
Well I have no idea where this current game will lead us but let me once again issue the challenge for my readers to predict the outcome of “The Big Game”
Last year’s winner, miss Juarez, won a lotto scratcher but then wasted it by using her keys to scratch instead of a lucky penny.
This year’s winner however will get the option, they can either choose a lotto scratcher OR a free Chipotle burrito.
Also there was some debate last year as to why she won and not someone else who had the same point differential. Thus I give you a list of rules…
Rule #1 I have the final decision and will declare the winner based upon my assessment of the most accurate score prediction. Therefore I will disqualify anyone who makes more than one prediction or who owns any type of New England associated paraphernalia.
I guess that’s about all the rules I can think of for now. However I do reserve the right to make up rules as I go along.
Buwhahahahaha!
San Diego @ New England AFC Championship Game Preview
It’s only Tuesday and yet these type of articles are already finding their way out of New England (Thanks albino, Former champ and all).
I expect there to be a lot of talk about how great the Patriots are. No other team has ever been able to do what they have done over the course of an entire season. However what I cannot understand is all the talk about how bad the Chargers are, or rather how poorly they match up with the Patriots.
I’ve had some success on this blog using my own non-professional, subjective, coach-potato skillz in predicting outcomes (I predicted 90 Padres wins, they had 89. I’m 14 and 4 on my pre-season Chargers predictions and 7 of 8 on NFL playoff predictions). I don’t just throw darts at a board in coming up with these, instead I do three things in approaching the selection of winners. Read the rest of this entry »
Mitchell Report Men better be Mitchum Men
The Mitchell Report came out last week naming nearly 80 baseball players linked to using Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED’s). In the public mind all PED’s are called “steroids”. The casual observer makes no differentiation between Human Growth Hormones (HGH) and Anabolic Steroids. So now in the wake of the Mitchell report we are beginning to see many of the named players come out and explain why they were listed on the report.
The funny thing about these guys is how stupid they think the American public actually is. To help out my loyal den readers I’ve decided to categorize the different players so that when you hear their “statements” you will be know right away how much they are insulting your intelligence… Read the rest of this entry »
Padres Hot Stove
It’s that time of year where things are getting very interesting for the Padres and with the New Padres Board getting lost in the archives it seems necessary to have something more accessible.
Isn’t it iconic… don’t you think? A little too iconic… Yeah I really do think.
An icon is something that is larger than life, something or someone who defines a culture. An icon is a symbol that unfolds a rich tapestry of significance, value, and history. Read the rest of this entry »
Poway High on National TV tonight
Last weekend I was informed by my downstairs neighbor (a Poway High football coach) that the Titans would be playing on ESPN2 this upcoming Thursday. Read the rest of this entry »

Baseball Awards
I want to use my soap box here in the blogosphere to sound off on all of the “award projections” that the internet throws out there.
We all know there is such thing as an east coast bias in that most of these writers have never seen a game played west of Saint Louis but if the awards go the way most people are projecting I’ll be disgusted. Read the rest of this entry »
I did not write this article
The following is an excerpt from Gregg Easterbrook’s weekly ESPN.com column, “Tuesday Morning Quarterback”.
None one else is writing this and I simply don’t know why. What he has to say is, in my opinion, as relevant as the steroid scandal in baseball.
Patriots fans, you probably won’t want to read this… Read the rest of this entry »
