Barroid is coming to San Diego

July 30, 2007 at 4:58 pm (Sports thoughts)

The question is no longer “will Barry Bonds* break the home run record?” but rather “when and where”? Sitting just one away from tying and two away from breaking Hank Aaron’s 755 career home runs, the human stain, barroid bonds* now brings his quest for infamy to Southern California. Three games In LA followed by three games in San Diego means that the odds are definitely high that at least one lucky So-Cal fan will have the chance to make some serious bank OR a serious statement.

swimming up stream (a controversial opinion on the crimes of Ron Mexico)

July 23, 2007 at 5:08 pm (Pop thoughts, Sports thoughts)

In our chaotic, media-driven, politically-correct, pop culture world certain opinions are simply unacceptable. It seems that within a matter of just a few hours one opinion can become fact. I guess the rise of blogs is the natural counter balance to try and keep common sense afloat but it just seems too difficult. The topic of this particular blog comes from a tremendous sense of duty. I feel obligated to promote common sense and justice even though I know it is an opinion that goes so strongly against the grain that it may invoke personal attacks and persecutions. In fact I may loose all of my potential readers after this post, but come what may, I must.

The worst fans in sports

July 18, 2007 at 5:35 pm (Sports thoughts)

A recent comment by Lynn H got me thinking. Out of all the fans in all the sports, who is the absolute worst? This is a completely subjective opinion and based entirely on relative variables. Let me make it clear what I mean by “worst”

Best and Worst on this level works in regards to individual character. Things like human decency, respectfulness, consistency, morality, intelligence and passion for the game as well as their team. Read the rest of this entry »

A Friday The 13th Horror Post

July 13, 2007 at 5:15 pm (Random thoughts)

Today is Friday the 13th. We usually get one or two of these a year so that the major movie studios can drop some poorly written, pitifully directed, putridly acted teen slasher film on us (this year we get “captivity“). I hate these types of movies. They’re so ridiculous, so contrived, so disgusting and worst of all they’re never scary.

Ok now that I have that out of the way let me tell you about a truly terrifying experience I survived this very morning. I warn you, the rest of this post is not for the fainthearted, if you are the kind of person who shivers when walking past a Stephen King book at Barnes and Nobles do not read any further.

Don’t want to be an American (trivia) idiot?

July 5, 2007 at 3:50 pm (Random thoughts)

Here is some USA trivia for the loyal den readers in case you are experiencing a nostalgia hangover from all of the fun yesterday. I gave this little quiz at our family BBQ and the high score was 13. You can get a max of 23 (even though there are 20 questions you can get multiple points on questions 4 and 16). Read the rest of this entry »

Prayer Police

July 2, 2007 at 5:09 pm (God thoughts, Politics thoughts)

If you’ve had e-mail for more than a week you’ve probably gotten that ridiculous forward recalling the numerous school shootings followed by a “student” “praying” to “God“…

“Dear God why aren’t you stopping these things from happening in our schools?” and “God’s” typical response is, “Dear student, I’m not allowed in schools.” Read the rest of this entry »
