If you’re going to San Francisco…
How do you get there?
I am so so so excited about going on vacation with my wife. One of the great memories of my childhood were taking long road trips and now we finally get to begin this tradition in our family. We are headed to San Francisco! Even though it would be both cheaper and faster to fly there it surely isn’t close to as much fun as driving. Driving is the best if you have the patience for it. You get to see so much more, you really get the chance to connect with the places that you are passing through. Read the rest of this entry »
The (long awaited) Padres Prediction Post
I do not adhere to the doctrine of pessimism. Pessimism, I believe is a psychological disease that can be attributed to many factors ranging from childhood disappointments to cowardice. Regardless of the cause, it is a certain fact that pessimists are consistently less happy and more unrealistic. Ironically most pessimists consider themselves realist and in one sense they are realist. That is, their personal reality is woeful compared to the actual reality but it is still their reality. They have indeed created their own reality.

My favorite week of the year has always been the first week of April. There are many factors that combine to make this the greatest time on the calender. For starters the weather, no matter where you are, is just about as good as it gets. Read the rest of this entry »
A ’slightly gay’* post
(*Before I begin with my actual post It is necessary for me to put a disclaimer on my title: Isn’t it funny how the first amendment has been replaced by “Miranda rights”? The first amendment states that we have the “Right” to free speech. Miranda rights, on the other hand are the “rights” given to a person as he or she is being arrested. We are probably only familiar with this based on what we have seen on TV. It always sounds something like…
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”
The Miranda rights actually are an extension of the fifth amendment which gives us the right to not testify against ourselves.
Boy has our culture changed! Instead of me having the right to call this post “slightly gay” I have the better right to not say anything at all and not get in trouble.)
NOW for the ’slightly gay’ post…
All are welcome?
I read this poignant article in the Union Tribune describing the struggles that a Carlsbad church is having with the membership of a convicted child molester. Read the rest of this entry »
We Don’t Have Cable
This isn’t an ethical, moral or religious statement. It’s a financial one. My wife and I decided that we would forgo the luxury of cable television in our first few months of marriage in an effort to save some money. The agreement was that when baseball season came around we could get it. Read the rest of this entry »
