Over and Under Rated
Midweek fluff. Oscars were just given out and I am pretty sick of the whole dang academy. They never seem to select the movies that I think are the best. In fact I don’t know who ever agrees with the Oscar nominations, they are usually a bunch of bologna. Never mind, I don’t care to talk about the Oscars. I care to talk about films that are good but often neglected. The under rated movies. And since we are doing that lets hear what you’ve got for the most over rated films too. The End of Black History Month
OK February is over so I put this post back at the top. I think it’s worthwhile to look at again, or even for the first time.
How special are you?
One of the most humiliating moments in my life came during a Sunday school class in high school. The class was broken up into groups of three people and told to simply “talk”. “Have a conversation with the other members of your group. ” While the groups were talking amongst themselves a fourth individual sat on the outside of the groups, silently writing throughout the 5 minutes of discussion. we had no idea what this fourth person was writing, we were told to ignore them, pretend they weren’t their, and just talk like we would normally talk. So that is what I did. Read the rest of this entry »
Ooh, baby, do you know what thats worth?
80’s music fans know what’s next, but for those of you not familiar with Belinda Carlisle the song continues “ooh heaven is a place on earth.”
Depending on your eschatology, this silly song might actually make sense. Read the rest of this entry »

PESA adherent betrayed!
As the faithful Den readers know, PESA (people for ethical standards on animals) has been growing in popularity. Tragically a Belgian PESA member by the name of Karen Aerts was betrayed by the animal kingdom this past week. Read the rest of this entry »
How do you “get it right” when it comes to parenting?
While the alcohol discussion is still in many ways continuing there has been a clear bent towards bringing in children of different denominational affiliations to prove the superior position. Though this really has nothing to do with alcohol it has become a topic of interest to the Den visitors. Consequently this new thread has been formed for you who wish to point out who has the better kids. Read the rest of this entry »
Coffee Conversation
Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water. ~The Women’s Petition Against Coffee, 1674
Coffee and Blogs, a match made in heaven.
Gentlemen and Ladies, I give you a coffee conversation. Read the rest of this entry »
Charismatics have a new apologist. Please welcome, Echo!
OK So I realize I am probably going to get some flack for this but I couldn’t help but notice something strangely familiar about Echo’s arguments for alcohol. Then it dawned on me, I’ve said stuff like this before, but on an entirely different subject. So (I hope with little complaint from the E-machine), I present to you how Echo would argue for the charismatic position if he wasn’t opposed to it. The italics are mine (From I Corinthians 12) Read the rest of this entry »
Ghosts of the playground
Did you see the Snickers Superbowl commercial where the two guys accidentally kiss? Yeah it was gross, but did you know it is also really dangerous? In fact, according to Joe Solmonese of the Human Rights Campaign it produces some type of mystical ghost to appear on playgrounds and frighten little children.
